I made a huge turkey with perfect crispy skin on the outside and moist meat on the inside and all the fixings to go with it: gravy, stuffing inside and outside the bird, roasted potatoes with bacon and Italian herbs, asparagus with bacon and sunflower seeds, crescent rolls, corn fritters, and ‘sunshine’ carrots (Kristin’s recipe, and boy are they yummy).
My brother’s girlfriend Lisa brought over a cucumber salad, which I’m sure was delicious but I don’t like cucs. They also brought an apple pie, and ice cream, and gingerbread cookies (none of which were eaten because we gorged ourselves on dinner). So we’re eating dessert today. And I’m going to make a turkey broth with the left over carcass. A sixteen pound bird is definitely overkill for four people, but I like turkey leftovers. Lisa made some yummy gingerbread martini’s but I’m a lightweight and could only drink one.
The mishap of the day all Nick’s fault. The spray nozel at the sink was dripping and Nick wanted to see where the leak was coming from. The water was running because I was rinsing out a dish. The nozel was in its cradle and he pressed down on the top of it. Hot water hit me in the neck and chest and I got soaked. According to him he didn’t know that was where the spray button was. I’ll get him back. Later. When he least expects it.
